Who We Are

Evolving from a small, feisty diverse grassroots organization of teachers, parents, students and community members, the Montgomery County Education Forum (MCEF) has become the convening organization of a broad county-wide coalition -- Equity in Education Coalition of Montgomery County (EEC) -- including the Montgomery County Education Association, Montgomery County Association of Administrative and Supervisory Personnel, SEIU Local 500, the NAACP, Progressive Maryland, Impact Silver Spring and other parent and student organizations.

MCEF advocates a high quality, engaging, challenging education for every child in heterogeneous classes using differentiated instruction.

MCEF wants to see every child working in her or his “zone of proximal development” – right on the edge of what he or she can handle -- with the support to succeed.

MCEF brings together people from different sides of this issue and people working with and for our children in a variety of ways – policy makers, parent groups, educators, school system unions and staff, and education experts.

MCEF works to bring about the systemic changes inside MCPS to give every child the opportunity to succeed.
